Trust establishes bursary at Atlantic College

The Peter Saunders Trust is proud to announce the establishment of a bursary at Atlantic College, the World United College within Wales. The bursary will make a contribution towards the fees for a student from the Trust's area to attend this international college based at St Donat's Castle in the Vale of Glamorgan.

A prospective student has to apply to the College and meet its exacting requirements in order to be awarded a place. The College can then offer the bursary to a student from the Trust's area at its own discretion.

Atlantic College is an international community and aims to foster a sense of global interdependence and responsibility. The educational programme aims to help students develop and fulfill their own potential while recognising and responding to the needs of others.

Students are expected to develop an understanding of current world events and common challenges such as global and regional conflict and insecurity, environmental degradation, inequality and their underlying issues. In addition, students are given opportunities to develop tools to become influential members of their communities in the future.

Peter Saunders commented: "The College is unique in the UK and offers an outstanding education to those students willing and able to embrace its values. As such, it offers an education which the Trustees feel would be of considerable benefit to a student living in our locality."

The first beneficiary of the bursary was seventeen-year old Ailish Carroll-Brentnall who was awarded a place by Atlantic College for two years commencing September 2009.
